    Hi all,

New users to google ad and would like to use it to build my very small business but struggling with many issues so expect alot of help threads sorry.

Anyway got started with most of the features but the problem i'm having is setting up a specific advert to a specific location. For example if someone was searching for a builder in there local town/city they would search "builder in London" so they would set there advert as "London Builder" but what i'm wondering is it possible to set another advert to a different location nearby but not show the london one aswell just specific location they've entered?

Sorry if this doesnt make much sense but hopefully someone will have a little knowledge on this area? Maybe a detailed guide or something?

    thanks in advance

    Mark

Welcome to DP! Look forward to your other threads...

I actually ran a campaign for a builder who wanted almost exactly what you want... For geo targeting I set up 2 campaigns, 1 with general keywords like builders, renovations, building contractors, home builders, construction and all synonyms and related general phrases, then alter the campaign settings so that the ads appear in only the areas we targeted.

To change geo targeting, go to campaign > settings > edit. It will bring up country bundle which you can expand to filter down to what you want.

Then I created another campaign which focused on region specific keywords, eg, [city name] builder, [suburb name] builders, [region name] builders (of course using synonyms and related phrases, but all with a specific region/location/suburb/city attached.

Then all ads were also created with a specific city/region/area included. This campaign was set to appear in a range of countries and regions that had potential to get searches for those keywords.

Remember, just because your business only targets one region, it doesn't mean you can't generate customers or referrers from other regions.

Also, being very specific with your campaigns, keywords and targeting helps you track where your success is coming from.

    Hope this helps...
