Help with figuring out how to make a daily diary form

I'd like to have a daily short food diary on my site. Something anyone can register to have their own and anyone else can comment on. Can this be done with forms? Is this better handled by CMS? I rather this not be a fully fleshed out blog just a simple 4 section daily journal.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I suggest you use wordpress cms, users will be available to register there and post comments!

Thanks for the help but I think wordpress is more than what I need. To get the functionality for users to be able to create their own simple 4 entry "diary" they would each have to create their own blog, right? Which is much more involved than I want it to be.

I'd like users to be able to enter in the same kind of info in a template daily, have it stored to a database, and have users be able to comment on it. Like a blog but far stripped down. Wordpress and wordpressMU seem like overkill for this task.

I wish I could point you to an example but I'm having trouble finding one.
