Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have fairly a novice with Google Adwords but have been learning as much as I can. Before I address my problem, let me give you all some background information about myself. I am a marketing research assistant at a major university. I am doing research on the risk/value matrix on Google Adwords. The problem I am having is that I need to somehow find a way to extract the data (into excel) of how each one of my individual ads did during their campaign. When I do an ad report, it gives me 517 results with many duplicate ads. I believe all the duplicate ads are for different search querys, keywords, regions....etc. I only have about 20-25 ads in total and would like to see how each one performed overall with all regions, keywords...etc included. I am looking for the CTR, CPC, Quality Score, average position, impressions, and clicks for these 20-25 ads. Is there anyway I can have a report made with these criteria for each ad overall, without getting duplicates? I appreciate any help. Thank you all.
So does no one know how to do this or is it not possible? I hope my problem is clear, if more info is needed, please let me know. Thanks again!
You are not making yourself all that clear. Anyway, click on the Reporting tab and create a new report. In Report Type section, select Ad Performance. Then in the third section (Advanced Settings), add the columns you wish to have. My understanding is you want the results of each keyword and ad so select those fields. You talk about the regions as well but that is not available in this report. Also, if in the Settings (second section), if you choose Daily, you will have data for each day. You want Summary so you get only one row for each keyword-ad.
If you're dying to use Excel I think using a pivot table would help you. Otherwise why not just change the date range to your desired length in the Adwords UI and quickly, and yes, manually, type the ad results into Excel. Seems like it would only take a minute.
Okay..let me try to be as clear as I can. I have made a total of 25 ads or so. When I make an ad performance report, it gives me 517 results, many of the ads being duplicates. Why? Is there anyway I can see the overall performance (quality score, cpc, clicks, impressions, ctr, average position) of each of my 25 ads? That does make sense?
You've probably selected Daily. So you have 25 ads running for 21 days means 525 ad-days, one record for each day of each ad (ads with no impressions don't show). If you select Summary, you'll get the totals of all 25 ads for the time period chosen. Only one record for each ad which is what you want.
I just checked, and unfortunately no. It's been on summary the whole time. This is just baffling me. I'm sure this is easier than I'm making it out to be, but I really am just stumped.
The easiest way to consolidate data for the same ad copy across multiple campaigns/ad groups is to use a pivot table as someone had previously suggested. First, insert a column after the ads and concatenate the 4 lines for headline, desc lines and display url to make a single concatenated ad in one column. Select all of the table, make a pivot table and select all of your metrics as values, and the concatenated ad as the category. Viola, all of your data rolled into one table.
