    Hey Everyone,

This is my first time using ebay to sell something and I am in the process of selling a textbook that I am not longer using. How do I make the buyer pay for the shipping and how do I set up my methods of shipping. I am very lost on this part of ebay. All the help is appreciated.

Weight the book and packaging then go here: http://postcalc.usps.gov/

and figure out what it is going to cost for the 48 or 50 states.

Books do qualify for the book rate but most people are more interested in a quick receipt. I suggest priority mail as the best option.

CYA on the shipping. No one cares about a buck or two. It is the guys who charge $15.00 for a stick of memory that get the bad feedback.

edit: I am saying a flat rate is easier and best.

How do I know how much to charge for a flat rate if I don't know the buyers address?

Weigh it at a PO if you don't have a scale and check maybe online at usps.com to get the cost to ship it. The zipcode shouldn't matter when using Media Mail, First Class or even priority.

A flat rate envelope from the post office is $4.60

That is 2-3 day shipping with Priority mail. That will work anywhere in the USA.

Flat rate envelopes can not be used for everything.

Pick a zip code that is the greatest distance from your location. Portland Oregon works well if you are east of the Mississippi and Bangor Maine works well if you are in the west.

You just have to think about this for a minute.

Up to 2 pounds the rate is fairly flat all across the country.
