    Hey guys,

I am a total newbie at email marketing
and by total newbie I mean I want to start email marketing

the thing is I dont know what the heck I'm doing

Im trying to accomplish this AUTOMATICLY:
1: make a form people send their e-mails through
2: send out a confirmation email
3: Have a list that automaticly adds those e-mails
4: Send another email with a download link in it

Also I hired someone on Fiverr to design me a squeeze page but he needs my "opt-in" code.

    how do I get that?

First question before you start your email marketing campaign: is your email list opt-in?

you should create opt in email list and then also consider using auto responder.

An autoresponder is used to capture emails on a list that you can send emails to.
Although it's much cheaper to pay once for autoresponder software you host yourself, this is not a good idea for at least 3 reasons:
    1. Emails you send will almost certainly be considered spam.
    2. Hosting accounts limits how many emails you can send per hour and day (not many)
    3. Any problems - and you need to provide the tech support
That's why it's best to use an autoresponder such as Aweber - who constantly work to maintain email deliverability and provide all the tools you need to create opt in forms on a squeeze page.
It used to be easy getting visitors to opt in to your list - but now you need to offer a free gift of value to visitors to get them to sign up
Then you need to contiuously provide value to members on your list - so they respond when you have an offer for them to start spending $

If you are on a buget listwire is a completly free autoresponder..

first set up your squeeze page
    set up your autoresponse series
    make sure it converts..
    if not tweak it..

So listwire can send a confirmation e-mail, add someone to a list, and send another email?

You'll get the opt-in code from the auto-responder service. I learned how to properly use an auto-responder by using Aweber. I think they still have a $1 (30 day) trial offer. They've got training and step-by-step instructions to help you get set up and more importantly understand what you are doing. There's another company - TrafficWave who has a free 30 day trial offer. They are pretty easy to use as well.

I think you can import subscribers manually..the way you send e-mails is by setting up an e-mail sequence or sending out a "broadcast" Broadcast meaning you send your message out to everyone on your list..

But importing a full list no you can't do that.. send a ticket to support and find out..
