I bought an ipod shuffle from a firend today who got a friend to install all the music on his system. I cannot for the life in me figure how to do add music.

This was all I found on the internet to help.

Install iTunes and the iPod software using the CD included with your iPod shuffle. iPod shuffle requires iTunes 4.7.1 or later

I did not get any sotware with it, installed itunes

Open iTunes (click on the iTunes icon in the Dock on your Mac or choose it from the Windows start menu on your PC)

Import music into iTunes if you have not already done so
Switch your iPod shuffle to off and connect the iPod shuffle to a USB port (USB 2.0 preferred) on your computer

Don't know how to import music into itunes, does it mean from the list and my own C.Ds? I have tried everything and can't get anywhere.

Your iPod shuffle should appear in the Source list on the left side of the iTunes window. Notice the flashing orange light on the iPod shuffle indicating that it is connected to your computer

There is no source list on the left hand side, the orange ligh is flashing.

Transfer songs manually by dragging them to your iPod shuffle, or have iTunes automatically select and transfer songs by selecting the iPod shuffle in the Source list and clicking the Autofill button

Don't know where my ipod shuffle is to drag it into?

Notice the Do not disconnect message in the iTunes window and the flashing orange light on the iPod shuffle

When iTunes has finished transferring music to your iPod shuffle, the iTunes window will indicate that the update is complete

Click the Eject button next to the iPod shuffle in the Source list and then disconnect your iPod shuffle

So that's the problem, can anyone please help in any way before I go crazy trying.

It's simple. All you have to do is download itunes on to your computer. Go to www.Apple.com and you can download it from there. Once it is downloaded than you can start adding your songs. You can download songs from Limewire or Bearshare for free. You have to also download these applications to your computer. Once those or downloaded you begin downloading songs. Once you have finish downloading the songs you want you go to Start<Search. In search you click all music. Then you will see all the songs you downloaded. You bring itunes up, snatch songs from the search and put it on the itunes libary. Once you have finished putting all the songs you want on it. From file on itunes libary click Sync to Ipod.
