I bought a domain name at Godaddy. I have a different web host. Do I need to change the DNS settings at goddy ? Or should i change only the name server ?
What is this DNS for ? Please pardon me if its a silly question to ask.

You should have settings at Godaddy to change your nameserver1, nameserver2 as provided by your web host.

    Leave it alone.

Give it at least 10 minutes up to 48 or even 72 hours. No single party controls
all the factors involved in how soon a domain name resolves to its website, if
    any.

I had to change DNS to:
    Domain name: proxyguide.org
    DNS:
Nameserver 1 :ns1.proxyguide.org IP: --IP HERE--
    Namer Server 2 : ns2.proxyguide.org IP:--IP HERE--
and then change the name server of proxyguide.org to
    ns1.proxyguide.org
    ns2.proxyguide.org
    Hope that helped
