Wow, it seems my site was accepted then deleted a couple of weeks later. That makes no sense whatsoever and it makes me really mad. ?
From "DMOZ Instructions to New Editors": 1. it is forbidden to make sense 2. try to piss off as many people as possible
It just really disappoints me how that was my first site to ever be accepted and then it just ripped from me so fast. I even was helped by an editor who saw this thread... Oh well...It's pretty crappy when directories delete submissions without explanation.
nrlmedia - post the URL of the site accepted then removed and someone may be able to tell you the reason. Include where the site was listed.
In general, ODP editors should enter sites that represent the following: * Original, unique and valuable informational content that contributes something unique to the category's subject. http://www.dmoz.com/guidelines/include.html
Many generations to come will be amazed by what an interesting and original thinker you are. How can you post such an original and revolutionary ideas on almost daily basis?
LOL! I was going to post something to that effect myself, but then flipped to Arnold's Terminator line: "Waste of ammo".
So, Why do we even bother with DMOZ if they delete listings for their own pleasure? I am kicking myself for even caring!
Annie, at the beginning of this thread he posted that he wanted to submit this site. http://www.ebusinessjournal.net/ Skunky gave him what he thought was the best category and he said he submitted to it.
For me it's because most of the sites outranking me in google right now for my main keyword are DMOZ listed... Sucks I know. (the sites and the situation)
GeorgeB, didn't we almost have you talked in to becoming an editor? Come on, join us, there's work to do.
After my post in another thread about becoming an editor in DMOZ, I checked it out and find out that DMOZ actually has a category for cooking casseroles and it has no editors. Just go to store and buy the ingredients and start cooking, when you have developed the interest for this subject then you can apply to become an editor.
I think casserole recipes should be a required component of all pro-anorexia sites. If a pro-anorexia site doesn't have a casserole recipe, it shouldn't be listable. No exceptions.
No, I think all editors should start in casseroles section and after they have got enough experience after a year looking at the same 20-30 sites, may be they can apply to get editing privilege in jam making category. In case their application for new category is denied then they can study the nose picking category and learn how to participate in DMOZ work, the same way as the other 90% of editors are doing.
