HI - can anyone tell me if the redirect that WP does in the general setting is true 301 redirect or just sort a forwarding manuever? I'm asking because I don't know if I need to to more to let the SEs know that the www and non-www URLs are the same site. Also - I am still trying to get the full answer to this question (not WP - just redirect ?) http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1874861 thanks
Why even take chances. I just moved an entire html site to wordpress. I'm using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/ Over 20,000 301 redirects and not a glitch. Excellent feature set, easy to use.
Turns out it is a 302 (temporary) redirect that is done in the settings in wordpress. Not good enough for the search engines (permanently redirecting www to non-www for example - needs to be 301).
