Hi I would like pointers on where to begin with building an adult themed website. I'm not interested in the kind where I have to host videos & pictures on my own server, I'm mostlty interested in the kinds that drive traffic to the content owners website. My site display thumbnails that are linked to contents provided by the likes of reality kings, pornpros, bangbros, etc & I earn affiliate commision. How are these sites made? What are the operational costs? What is the best place to host them? What is their revenue stream like? There are probably more questions but these are all I could think of. It would be extremely helpful if you own a couple of these & would love to share your experience running them.
Hi, I've owned a few of these TGP's in the past if that's what you're talking about. They aren't fantastic to earn an income from unless you have a decent one that has been online for a few months. 1) You can make them anyway you want really, i made mine using Wordpress and an already made TGP theme using a couple of plugins. Just search for a TGP Wordpress theme. 2) The cost of keeping one online is minimal really, it's always best to have your own images uploaded and obviously depending on traffic, i had about 15 online at one point all using the same shared hosting package, that only cost me $7 per month. I was probably only getting 500-1000 uniques per each TGP though. 3) I hosted mine on a shared plan already stated with www.theshosting.com they were brilliant. 4) Not great unless you have a brilliant one and it all depends how you were doing it, i had no luck using affiliates i was only using them so i could use their images to promote them without any legal issues. I was only earning about $5 per week using the likes of Plugrush, so it is profitable but won't get you rich. Easy to start, easy to maintain especially if you could automate them by getting them to scrape images. Unless you are willing to put a lot of effort into a load of them you won't make loads of money quickly.
Ok. Thank you for your insight. It really is helpful. I will do some more research into these TGP and see how they work.
There were really big money in adult affiliate industry a few years ago, but aren't anymore. With thousands of adult tube sites containing millions of hours free videos, and often full length movies, all for free, who would pay for it? You'll need millions of unique visitors to make a few bucks, IMHO adult traffic is the poorest quality ever.
Well you know what they say about website traffic stats.... I think this is probably the most competitive industry to get into. From the questions you asked it seems like you don't know much about the industry or web development in general. Which is fine, most people don't.... but even if you were an expert at both, it would be very very difficult to build a successful site for this market. Unless you have a very strong passion for this industry, I personally wouldn't bother as it is too competitive.
I did adult sites for almost 10 years and got out because I was working more and making less. As mention, competition was incredible, conversions ratio's were getting so high and affiliate programs cheating left and right. Wasn't worth it. I sold everything while it was still worth something and that wasn't a ton of money. When I started, 1:50 ratio's were common, when I left, I was lucky to see 1:500. You have to have so much more traffic to get the sales. You'd have to have a TON of money to start your own affiliate program, plus all the legalities, so most people are left to be affiliates and good luck with that road. As Robinox said, there is WAY too much free stuff out there. It is the one industry that gives away too much free content. Too easy to get it for nothing. And TGP was the lowest revenue back then, can't imagine how it is now. Plus, how do you get traffic? Not like you can trade links or get back links from just anywhere. With adult trades, if you can get them, you don't see much traffic or it's junk. Sure you can still make money in adult, but it's going to be really tough. So many other ways to make much better income with so much less traffic. Funny, I still see people talk about how big the industry is, but they don't talk about how the average person could actually profit from it. Sure there is alot of surfers, but how many even pay for it, and how many are going to go through your affiliate links? Last summer talked to a friend who still has some sites, see's very little money from it. Also, not like you can tell every one what you do. Not something you can do at home easily if you have a family, ect.
With all due respect.... you have no idea what you are talking about. I used to make 10k a month with adult. Than everything changed. Twitter, Facebook Google. So what? We adapt. That's what a good marketer does. No matter how tuff it gets there is always a way. As of today I still make $200 on each of my affiliate programs. and that is without spending a penny in advertising.
With all due respect back at you... 10 years doing it and I don't know what I am talking about? Great to hear it's working for you, for most people it is NOT working. I did not make up the fact that conversion ratio's went to crap. I did not make up the fact that more content than ever is given away for free. The fact that tube sites serve up hours and hours of free video content every day. The fact that far too many programs were cheating affiliates. The fact that so many people were not making money and trying to sell what their sites. Or payment processing closing up with no notice, or dropping adult processing. Your absolutely correct, things do change, guess I am one that did not want to push adult on social networks. So I guess I did not adapt in that respect. But please don't say I don't know what I am talking about. I was there in the trenches 16 hours a day. These days I make 10X more from 1/10 the traffic. And yes, with no money spent on advertising. That is my way to adapt and very happy I did If it's working for you, more power to you. I mean that. I just get tired of people talking like it's some ripe easy market. It's not, not any more. Most people will NOT make much money with it. I am sure there is still money to be made, but it's not as easy as many people talk.
