help with analysing google analytics traffic

    before i redesigned my site it was all in flat html and my analytics were showing approx 300 unique visits via organic keywords. now my site is all in joomla and i have mainly 301 redirects for pages that had backlinks / hotlinks via images to my site.

    now, i get approx only 100 unique visitors per day, with 90% direct traffic, and 10% through keywords. why has my direct traffic spiked when i had hardly no direct traffic before? and more importantly why has the direct traffic replaced the organic searches?
