Well I am totaly new to the adsense thing as i used to be totaly against flooding my site with ad's because i didnt want it to scare off my loyal users. But lately the traffic has grew to the point to where i had to get a dedicated server for it. so to help pay for the server i decided to put up adsense.
We are reaching about 12000 unique hits a day.

The problem is I am pretty much clueless with adsense. I set up adsense and it appears there are only the same 2 ads showing up and they are not very high paying ad's i set it up a few hours ago, i already have over 8000 impressions with 24 clicks and only made $1.82

I have made some changes to the meta tags keywords on my website's front page to accomodate a higher paying click but the same ad's still keep showing up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

There are several tools available to help estimate the value of different keywords. One is on the Adwords site under the Tools tab (I think). You need text high on your page that includes those words and phrases.

I'm not sure that Google, or any othe search engine, looks at the keywords meta-tag anymore.

    Good luck!

oh so it takes time for the ads to change, in other words i would have to add text that is very unrelavent to my site for a higher paying click.. if you would like to check out my site pm me and i will link you

I don't think adding text that is not relavent to your site just because you want to show high paying ads...

Even if you can show high paying ads, not many people will click since ads are not relavent...

I will stick with current content and try to get more traffic with unique contents on your site.

I agree with this. You can improve your CTR. The CTR (8000 impressions with 24 clicks) seem like quite low. Adsense placement is very important. Cheers.

I'd definately give it a bit more time. While you're waiting you could create different channels ready to test out ad formats / placement around your site when the ads come fully online (if your subject matter warrants them?). This sort of testing gives extremely useful info about how best to implement Adsense on a particular page.

Also you say you have many loyal users? If your site is a forum expect low CTR. As you can imagine someone browsing a forum can view tens of pages in a single sitting and if they are familiar with the layout probably won't even see the ads. It is possible to increase forum CTR but mine is still about 10% of that in the rest of my site. Not a problem though as the forum users no doubt use the rest of my site and the CTR there is fine

    Cheers

Is this a more accurate or possible quote from the above:

Hi I work for Google, but am working undercover. Now that you have told the world your CTR is 10%... could you send me your url via PM so that I can ban your AdSense account?

Best way around anything like that? Stop sharing information like CTR.

LOL I didn't say my CTR was 10% (I wish!), I said my forum CTR was 10% of the rest of my site, ie my normal pages have 10 times the CTR of my forum (and still not 10%!). I didn't give exact figures as its against TOS

If I was hitting 10% CTR in my forum I'd expect google would investigate! I'd be writing up one of those 'make a million on adsense' e-books too :D

    Cheers

    Hi,

It's quite hard to give you any useful advice until we can see the site. Even though some general advices would be to try to play with the colors of the ads and trying to embed them better in your content.

Regarding the keyword pricing, as some ppl told, you can try to play with google adwords tool and see what works best for your niche.

    Regards,
    WarlockCro
