Help with a business name

Discussion in 'General Business' started by sunster13, May 9, 2010.

    Hey guys,

I'm a little stumped in coming up with a business name. I'm starting a company focusing on marketing for local clients, primarily including web development and print media.

My name is Sunny, so I figured I could incorporate that somehow. Above the Clouds Media or Under the Sun Solutions or something like that come to mind, but I think they might be a word too long.

Any ideas? I'm open to any other suggestions as well (I'm aiming for something creative/futuristic if possible).

    Thanks

Using your full name in your business name can make it memorable and distinct. I don't know your last name, but how about "Sunny _______________ Media Design" or something similar?

Thanks for your reply. I thought about going with something like that initially, but my last name is one people have trouble pronouncing, and as a result, not very memorable.

I was thinking of something like Second Sun Marketing (or solutions)? What are your thoughts on that?

If you want your domain name to match your business name, you may have to do a fair amount of searching. I'd suggest trying to be a little flexible, and be willing to use .net , .biz or something besides .com to broaden your choices.

I'd really like to stick with a .com or .ca domain. I just don't think the others look as professional. Also, if all the names are already taken, it shows that my name isn't really unique.

if the name you want already exist that use, you try to bid to buy the name, maybe you'll spend a lot of money, depending on how you bid, good luck.

Build your name around keywords prospective clients will use to find you, then worry about your URL after that.

I would offer you to think out a unique name. Perhaps it will not have meaning and include words sunny or media. But it will be very unique like kijiji, ebay, google and etc. I guess such unique names is easier to promote.

First off I would not use the word seconds in any way.. to me that refers to second best, second place etc.
Have you tried adding the co to a domain name you want that is already taken ( example only I did not look up ) sunmediadesignco.com co stands for company. or if you are going after people in a specific location try, ( again just an example ) texassunmediadesign.com texassundesign.com texasmediadesign.com
I have used this website many of time to help me with creating a domain name - it's free and helpful IF you can think outside the box.

Here are some in creating/choosing for a business name:

    Brainstorm
    Avoid generic names
Don't be too narrow or too literal.
    Keep it brief

I think the name shouldn't be too long... under the sun solution is too long i think.
    Maybe Sunster Solution works good...
Or Just Sunny Solution is good too.
Make it easily remembered... so customer can easily spread the words about your company

i think it would be very difficult to find domain matched with your name as it must be existing...

    you could try as

    Rising Sun solutions

    marketing with sunny

    Sunny advertisers

    etc

I thought of three, which I shall PM you with. I don't think it is prudent to brainstorm openly, particularly when creative .com domains are a premium.
