hi, i recently detected a bunch of 404 errors with webmaster on my WordPress site, there 3 types: embed.jspname=wordpress&pver=2.73 tag/lcd-display/function.require ?p=1 theabove 3 are examples of the problem , note the full urls would be http://(websitename) .com/ (then the 3 above) didn't include website url as im not shore if its allowed ... i had a few more 404 errors which i solved but i attempted to solve these and am not getting any where , Please help if you know how , the errors are affecting my search traffic by about 50% or more! it took me about 1 1/2 weeks to figure out why my traffic dropped i was working like hell on seo to increase the traffic so possibly would have been a larger loss of traffic if it wasn't for all the extra traffic i was drumming up. will appreciate any insight in to the problem thank you in advanced DD
Sounds like a disqus problem. Do you have that on your site? http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-disqus-comment-system-crawl-errors-with-plugin I'm not affected by but saw it early on another forum and your post was familiar. Your best recourse would to follow up with disqus support if it's content related to them. Good luck
Thank you , i solved the problem by removing Disque, but now i realized that this is also a problem : embed.jspname=wordpress&pver=2.72 i thought it was related to the over one because the code was all the same but it ended in a 2 instead of a 3.... also still need help with the other 2 problems as i don't believe they are related to dique , (might be wrong). anyone have any ideas what they may be : tag/lcd-display/function.require ?p=1 thanks
OK i found a simple solution , i installed the plugin: " 404 simple redirect " its like placing a plaster on the problem , at least lowers the urgency of the problem for now. i still want to fix the errors so still would appreciate any help on fixing the errors Thanks
The embed.jspname=** sounds like a still a problem with disqus. (see http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-disqus-disqus-404-error-1 or http://wordpress.org/support/topic/...qus-comments-show-up-in-dashboard-not-on-site) Perhaps database changes, leftover content etc, conflict with other plugins. Hard to tell, you should post your url so we can help a bit better. The lcd-display sounds like a plugin error, it could be that it is correlated to the jspname error. You can use free tools like Fiddler2 or Wireshark to help track down issues such as those your having.
thank you for all the help DaveInFl ill look over your suggestions to try to fix the problems, im always very hesitant to give a external link in a forum because they seem to ban you for doing so, anyway her goes : http://gadget-mag.com hope you can give me some more insight in to the problem. thank you so much
