Okay, so i currently have my website on a subdomain under my main domain, but i'd like to stop using the subdomain for the site and use the main domain for it. So will a 301 direct be safe for this? My website is 1 month old, no PR as of yet, page 1 for many great keywords, 4,000 uniques daily so i can't afford to lose my rankings or traffic. All of my backlinks goto the subdomain, so my question is, if i use 301 redirect to point to my main domain (and the new location for the site)... Will i keep all of my search engine positions, and also all of the backlinks, will they still count as normal? Thanks!
Keeping it on the subdomain is wise, unless you have a very good reason in moving it to the domain. The only reason I can think of is branding...
