Heres the story: I wanted to register 2 domain names for my firm. On searching online both were available. The next day I booked em and only 1 was registered as the other one had been snapped up (may be squatted upon) by NETWORK SOLUTIONS As i needed both domain names i Had to register the domain name with Network Solutions. Now on BETTERWHOIS this domain status reads clientTransferProhibited WHY? I am not keen on doing business with the above said company and would like to transfer my domain name to another company. How do I do it? I am really confused as I am not all the net savy Please advise.
the thing with network solutions has been discussed a lot before, its kind of sleazy but they claim to be helping their customers by automatically holding any domains that are searched for on their site so no one else gets them, of course it means you must register with them. basically dont use their search if you dont want to buy from them. you can't transfer a domain within the first 60 days with any registrar, it's a regulation, just wait. you can still set the nameservers to point to wherever you want in the meantime.
I wonder where this NetSol waring is, the one that is to inform you about them holding a searched domain name for 5 days. Why did manicphantom proceed to search for a name if he did not want to use the services of that company? Looks like network solutions got ya, like a fly in a web...
Enter my parlor said the spider to the fly..... In my defense I ....nah cant even come up with a decent excuse.. Yup I got screwed over thanks for rubbing it in!!! The warning is probably in extra fine print in some obscure corner of the site
Don't blame yourself because NetworkSolutions is sleazy, thousands of people were hit with this corporate scam and NetSol are being sued for it. Network Solutions Sued For Defrauding Millions LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Solutions has forced millions of people to buy Internet domain names from them instead of cheaper competitors through a scheme that's netted the firm millions of dollars, a federal class action lawsuit filed today by Kabateck Brown Kellner, LLP states. ICANN, whose policies facilitate the scheme, is also named in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court, Central District of California. "Imagine if you asked a car dealer if they had a black convertible and were then forced to buy the car from them. Would you get a good deal? Each time someone asks Network Solutions about a domain name, the firm creates a monopoly for itself, forcing consumers to pay the price they demand," said Brian Kabateck, lead counsel in the class action and Kabateck Brown Kellner's Managing Partner... http://www.forbes.com/prnewswire/fe...swire200802251330PR_NEWS_USPR_____LAM061.html
