    Hey

    Something is really gone wrong!

Ok, i had 2 Hard drives in my comp. I had formated the C: drive and installed the XP on it. I had moved everything important into the D: drive, meaning all the backup of my important stuff was in the D: drive. So now i have installed the new windows, and when i looked in D: for my backup files it wasnt THERE!!! It looks like all the files in the Previous version of windows in C: had been moved to D: ??? How can that be?? And where have my backup files gone?

I have done the samething serveral times and never lost a file. and now something happened...

Anyway to restore them please? They are really important to me...

    Apprieciate all the help.

looks like they are gone, have you deleted any partition, or perhaps you have formatted all the drives while installing xp.

now, go to google and search for restorer 2000, that is a nice free software that finds deleted stuffs, helps a lot. try it, you won't be dissapointed!:)

    Sad to know this...
You might try some restorer software by searching in google. If if the data is not formatted, then there is a chance that you can get the files...

Check your partitions first. I got called to a client once with a similar problem, he had partitioned his first disk into 2, so his second disk wasn't actually his D drive at all !

make sure you haven't screwed up the partitions, if that's not the answer then i'm sorry but all of the data is lost.

RestoreIT recovery software worked for me. You can download the trial version and see if it spots all the files deleted. Once you are sure it has rounded off all files for recovery you can then proceed to purchase it. www.farstone.com is the URL. The cost is $40 for the full version.

yeah I hate to say it bro, but I think they're long gone. I could be wrong, but from my experience they're pretty much worthless.

Never give up easily. I've recovered data using programs like R-Undelete and GetDataBack and they've been pretty darn good to me.

errors do happen ..so it is best to make sure that your back-up files are kept in an external storage.
