    Hi,

I recently purchased a site from its originator who was taking too long to send me the script. So I went ahead and found a copy of the script online and installed it myself...Now my site has many members but because I didn't let the originator of the script install it himself, my site doesn't have the "proof of permission" of ownership...Yet I DID purchase the site from its legitimate copyright holder...

So I emailed the guy and asked him to just send me the script so I can just get the "permission of ownership" tag / signature or whatever it is and put it on my existing site instead of having him install a new site and losing all of my sites' members....

He emails me back and tells me he has to install the site on my server because it's encrypted...What exactly does encrypted mean? And how can I get around this so I don't lose my members to my site and all the data and alterations I've made...I don't want to tell the guy I uploaded his site myself...but I did, in fact pay for the site...

Anyone know how I can get the "certificate of ownership" from this guy without having him upload a new site? At this point, I don't know what to say to the guy because I don't know how these things (like encryption) work...Can he encrypt my existing site?

    Thanks...

Encrypted means set up in such a way to prevent exactly what you're trying to do. Yuor best bet is to talk to the programmer. If you paid him, that shouldn't be a problem.
