Hi i'm running into gross problem.. i use Datalife Engine CMS that generates a XML sitemap i use to submit to google sitemaps. today, my sitemap reached the limit ( 50,000 URLs) and google started sending me errors saying that i should split my sitemap. now if i split the sitemap and update the current one, it will add again all the links included inside the website. and i will receive the same error again. so what shall i do? is there anyway i could split the sitemap and prevent the CMS from updating the old links i removed from the current sitemap and added to the new one, but still updating the new links added ?
it depends on your sitemap generation software. You have to play around with the settings or modify how it generates your sitemap. As long as your splitted sitemaps work, your original doesn't have to work. i.e. original sitemap - 50k urls (generating error) new sitemap1 - 25k urls new sitemap2 - 25k urls as long as the 2 new sitemaps work, u can just delete the original. How you update th 2 new sitemaps depends on you.
alright. so obviously what i need is a DataLife Engine Expert that could modify my Google Sitemap generator Script. or a PHP Expert that could read the script and modify it to generate only the posts started from a specified date so it wouldn't generate the older posts. where i can find someone that could do that ? any help ?
it won't help, another script will create same site map ... btw me also looking for solution, my site exite 50k long time ago ....
There no problem in sitemap generator automatically doing xml sitemap file splitting which will fix errors in Google.
I think you could try to clean up all relate internet urls which have been saved by your computer, but this clean all.
If your pages are list items, such as entries from a directory, you can either randomise or list the latest 20 or so from each category, or you can create pages above the lowest level and index those. e.g. if u have 1000 files from 30 categories, index the 30 category pages instead and list links to the other pages on those category pages, is it clear?
