Hi folks, we have been optimizing the behavior of our website for a while now, there are still some things left to be mended and coded, but the website loads much faster than before. We're interested into impressions from first visits, in order to get a larger group of loyal followers. So, take a look at http://www.robaid.com and tell us what features would you add or remove from the website. Thanks
i m no expert but as a viewer i would like to view some things......u can consider putting up an fb fan page/like option on home page. A shout box can be a cool feature which i will also do one my site oor if not shout box u can place a meebo/wibiya toolbar giving ur users db fan page option + chat facility. I like ur how and why to option and big clear headings.......u can add some flash (just a little) in featured articles list (i know it increases page load timing) but as a viewer, i enjoy this as its pleasing to eyes...just do a little biit..And why not introduce a forum if u have nice traffic...infact i feel forum is the best way to increase traffic .......thats all i can suggest as viewer point of view
Since we don't have a FB page and we like Twitter more, we stuck to that option. There might be a FB fan page in the future. There are bookmarking options on articles that can promote us on Facebook thou. Shout boxes and forums take a lot of active time to moderate and keep track of, so it is most probable they won't be introduced (especially shout boxes). Aside the 3rd party flash from Adsense or embedded videos in articles, the website is flash free, and we'll keep it that way. There are some plans regarding featured articles section since the site already loads jquery, but we'll keep it the way it is until we decide which approach would be the best. Any other suggestions folks?
Update: Did some minor tweaks to make it perform faster so it should load relatively fast in most countries. We made a FB page where our tweets are being published, in order to keep in touch with people without Twitter accounts. Just to provide a link to it in one of these days
Thanks! Did move the advertisement which was on article top to the bottom because I found out that users using IE have to wait for the ad to load before the rest (article content) becomes loaded.
