Hi all. Been a DP reader for many moons and today finally found my voice and started posting (after a casual day reading most of the forums!) Anyway, I spend a great deal of time sitting on trains with a laptop so I thought I would take a look at article writing as I like talking about things I find interesting or new subjects I am looking at. I think I have a firm grasp on the English language and my background has been in IT (PC / networks / security etc) for the past 10 years or so. How could I test the water of article writing - is there anywhere I could send a couple of sample articles to see if I could make pocket money out of article writing? I would even like people to say 'I need a 300 word article on xxxxxxx', meaning I have to look into the subject and then write the article. I would be willing to send a few samples to people and see what feedback I would get to see if its worth throwing myself into this. Thanks for your time in reading this from a new member! Look forward to your replies. Ry
Look over www.onlinewritingjobs.net they link to the bidding sites and many forums like this one. You are sure to come across something that's up your alley.
You will definitely make more than pocket money if you are persistent in writing. Have a look at http://www.chrisblogging.com/ for inspiration.
Start off by showing your a couple of your articles to friends, family, posters.... If you have the green light, submit them to a slew of sites, like MSN, Yahoo, big and small online magazine sites, Networks, certain directories....
Perry Rose - thanks for that, when I get that light I will be back to see where to submit them! On the train again tomorrow for 6 hours so should be able to get a few sorted I hope - maybe I will put them up here (or link them) to get the pro view as well (at this stage I guess criticism will be more rewarding than praise!) Ry
If you have 6 hours on the train, do a crapload of articles about dogs. Dog training, dog care, puppy care, puppy training tips, etc.. They sell like hotcakes over at constant content. Even better, register there and somewhere in your account will be a "requested content" area. Look that over and type some of those up. If they don't sell, put them somewhere else or sell them here lol.
Dogs? Strange what people are after! In that case I will sign up and have a nose about as well. Again thanks!
Or you can also see what are the hottest gadgets and write about them in a conversational manner? Tech articles are also sought after, IMHO.
