    HELP ...

Hey there. I'm just past the VS newbie level and I'm using Win XP with VS 2008. I've noticed that installing SQL is not a friendly task! I keep getting errors! What would you suggest I try next?

When I tried to add a table to a website ... right click on App Data | Add | New Item. I receive the following error:

Connections to SQL server files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49251

May you have a blessed day as the LORD wills.

Installing the database is an easy process; just follow the directions provided by the installation wizard. I think the error message is pretty clear, have you followed the instructions?

I tried it again and I received the same errors. I just tried to take to the Wizard. Where is it?

I may have found the solution to this problem! Apparently, it was a problem with Win XP SP3. You can read about it at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957502

After using: "Settings" | "Control Panel" | "Add or Remove Prog'" then removing what little of the sub directories that they previously used, it was re-installed and the error message was written down. It was a popular error on Google.com.

Microsoft's help desk admitted that it was a problem with SP3! Their patch was sent this morning. Yet this fix is only the Beta software version. ... Bit of a bummer, but its still a solution.

Re-installing SQL appeared to proceed further than it did previously. The only trick is how should it be tested? Any suggestions?

May you have a blessed day as the LORD wills.
