Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has come across the same problem as me and have found out why it was happening. I have an Analytics account setup and haven't looked at it for a while, I am doing some work on a website and the analytics is telling me that people are looking at a page seemore.htm That page isn't on the website though, this is what's confusing me . . . is it possible for that page to have existed in the past and when people find the page through a link the 404 page still registers on analytics? Dunno, thought someone would be able to shed some light on this for me
It may not be seemore.htm as a direct one such as name.com/seemore.htm. It may be name.com/page/seemore.htm. I would check the website and check the server to see if such a page exists as some scripts may have a page that is renamed or showing up as that. I have never had the problem on any of my websites and I have worked on 30-40 websites over the past few years with analytic.
oops, thankyou v much, I tested a website in a subfolder months ago and when I put the site up on it's own domain I never deleted it from there, so it's been getting traffic from google and I've only just noticed, thankyou very much. Is the best way to proceed a 301 redirect now?
