Hi guys, I have a question. Some one put my link here: blackhatworld.com forum He meant to tell other members to visit one of my blog's post which is good to me because it promotes my link. BUT. here is my question: Is this forum a "bad neighbourhood" that going to hurt my SERP and PR? Thanks!!!
It won't have any negative effect. If it did, everyone would be placing links for sites that are ahead of them. I had some idiot buy over 100K junk links from textlinkads to try and get me booted from SERPS. It didn't do anything.
Hey mjewel!! Thank you!! I'm happy to hear this. About your story, wow, as a newbie on internet stuff, that's something new for me, that people would pay trying to boot your site from SERP, terrible!!
Hey KimiGermany, Nothing will happen to your site serp. If it happens, everyone who is angry of other site will post in bad forums. You dont need to worry. @mjewel, You did correct thing. You are even silent after he gets 100k junklinks. If i am in place of you, same thing i would have done.
I believe both assumptions in the two above posts are not always correct. 1. An arbitrary link will never give you '100%' plus to your link profile. There is still a danger of a bad neighborhood or too-many-links at once. 2. However, 'bad' backlink definition is very relative to a context. For an old site with a history, such a 'bad' link will not do any harm, but for a new site with a few links in profile, a 'bad' link may bring quite sufficient damage in terms of SERP. PS. On the TS question: do not worry, this link is not really from a 'bad neighborhood'' category. Even the opposite ;-)
Google bowling is a common tactic but i hear that google has made it a lot harder to do now. Good--it was their responsibility to minimise it, glad to see they addressed this problem. That forum, I think is not actually a bad neighbourhood, in and of itself, believe it or not. The forum hawks all kinds of black hat techniques but itself is a legit website. All forums have people linking to other sites in them for reference in their posts.
No worries mate . If someone could just link you to a bad site and get you de-indexed, every major website would have been shut down by now as its competitors would surely have done it.
As long as you are not linking to bad neighborhoods, you'll be fine. Otherwise, it would be WAY too easy to destroy competitors SERPS.
No fear brother, this will not hurt you. Moreover bhforum is not a bad neighbourhood forum, though the name sounds to.
