Hi guys, Just noticed that over the weekend our site has been downgraded to PR3 from PR4 - and we have completely plummeted for all our main keywords. We recently did alot to this page - http://www.waterfallspa.co.uk/resource.php Added lots of outbound links to it, it used to be PR3, now it says it is not even ranked! Has this page destroyed our rankings?? Why? Any help would be very much appreciated
The PR fall on its own is not a problem at all, obviously the drop in rankings is. Either make all those links no-follow, or delete that page altogether if you think its causing the problem. Have you made any other changes to the site recently?
There have been no other major changes - although we did make some homepage copy ameds to fit in more 'Beauty salon' related keywords, we added lots of those types of keywords in as you can see from the homepage text. Could that have affected us?
The keyword density looks okay, if it reads okay to a human then it should be fine. Personally I'd remove the link exchange pages, if thats the only major change you have made recently.
One thing I just realised that we changed was that last week we changed our Database system to SQL which means all of the package and treatment page names changed - could this have affected things?
I don't think there is something wrong with your link web page UNLESS if you trade 3-ways link exchange. If you have a resource link web page, you must add only reciprocal links there. If you want 3-ways link exchange, do it in article web pages (make your link looks natural), not in your resource web page.
You dont have a huge amount of items for sale, do you need to use a database? http://www.waterfallspa.co.uk/package-details.php?package=10132 would be far better as: http://www.waterfallspa.co.uk/pampering-spa-day.php or something.
Some of the links on pages are not reciprocal because partners have not linked back yet. As the page went for PR3 to saying 'Not Ranked' - would it be better to just get rid of this page? It was only when this Rescources page was re-cached by google that I think this drop occured.
Any other suggestions? Has goolge just seen that I have added loads of outbound links and penalised me?
If you just added alot of outbound links. It seems like your sending pr to other sites and they are not sending any back
I know PR isnt everything, but it is a quick indicator of a site. You're linking to a lot of pr0/pr1/pr2 sites, it doesnt really seem a good exchange from your point of view. If you want to keep the resources page, I'd at least remove anything thats pr2 or less, given that your own site is pr4.
I'm found the following words when I'm browse your site... Warning: mssql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MS SQL-Link resource in /srv/www/htdocs/vhosts/waterfallspa.co.uk/live/sqlversion/inc/availabilityChecker.php on line 13 Error: Couldn't determine order node
