Hi guys i just started creating blogger landing pages for my article affiliate campain. This is my first blog ever on which i will advertise a "ex gf back guide" http://getbackgirlfriend.blogspot.com/ Since it is going to be used mainly as a sales page which wont be updated very regularly I dont need the sidebar gadgets. I already removed them but the huge space on the right for them is still there. I was hoping that it would dissapear as I remove the gadgets and that my blog posts would spread over the whole page but it did not happen. My question is if there is a way to remove the empty space for gadgets and streatch my blog posts all over the page? Thanks a lot
Wouldn't the best thing be for you to just find a new template to save you messing around? Otherwise, you would have to mess around with the html far too much. With the sidebar, you could always add a poll, some pics, some links to other sites etc, which can sometimes give it a more cleaner compact look. Of course, you could just slot a 160x600 Adsense unit blended well to the look of your site in there.
Well you know i also wouldnt mind making the site a bit wider. Right now I cant really fit in much into the 485px wide space If i could use the siderbar space too for the blog posts it would be perfect width. I tried looking for a different template but all of them have the sidebar in them
That's a shame I think you could have used the sidebars to hold more information, testimonials, or related products. Blogger is not the most opportune platform to build landing pages. As you are starting to see, you are limited in your customizations so inevitably it will looks similar to every other blogger blog, severely affecting your credibility and probably giving you a very high bounce rate. This is not anything against blogger, this is about business and converting into sales. Using a free hosted blog is not a sign of success or trust since any teenager in his mothers basement can build one and be gone with my money by the end of the week. These are things that people notice before they pull out their credit cards. The side bar could have held links to additional information like Privacy Policy, About page, Contact Information, and Special Offers, Payment Options...all things you need on the page when you are talking about selling a product and building a landing page. I know you don't want to hear all that so I'll just answer the question...get another template. In case you need some ideas of how you should utilize the sidebars to help you sell the product, here is one of my landing pages built on word press.
I have seen some Blogger templates that make the blogs look completely unrecognisable, even to the trained eye. If someone wants to opt for the standard templates then they could still do something pretty great if they have a good eye for design; you always have access to the html and you can throw plenty of Java widgets up! You can get a professional looking Blogger blog fairly easy, but I have come to realise that going on your own domain is the best thing to do (on day one as well)! OP: Just test some ideas out and see where it takes you.
Just change your template, pick up the last one within the blogger's template itself. I believe that one does not have sidebar.
I agree with Ryan 6 that perhaps changing your blog template would be faster. Check out Seagate Web Solutions for new premium blog templates and there are tons of free templates.
