Hello all, First of all, I apologize if this is not the right section to post this... it seems like it since it's related to PHP but you never know. Having said that... I am trying to edit the Twenty Ten template in wordpress. All I am trying to do is edit the loop.php or whatever needs to be edited so that it only displays the tags below each post in the homepage and at the single post page. I don't want the tags to be displayed below excerpts in the categories, archives, or tags pages. Even though I have never had a problem editing templates, this loop.php is seriously confusing me. I have managed to take out tags below posts and excerpts all together, but that's not what I am trying to achieve. Can somebody please help me out? I would prefer not to post a link to my website here, since Twenty Ten is an official WP theme and I am sure many of you already know it well, but if needed, I would gladly provide someone with the URL over PM. Thanks so much in advance!!!
you can use: is_home() for check if it is homepage or is_archive() for check if it is Category, Tag, Author and Date based pages are all types of Archives. hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply ivan. However, I am not sure I understand what you mean. I am trying to take away the post tags from showing under the posts when someone is viewing archives, categories, or tag pages in Wordpress. For your reference, the archive.php is <?php /** * The template for displaying Archive pages. * * Used to display archive-type pages if nothing more specific matches a query. * For example, puts together date-based pages if no date.php file exists. * * Learn more: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy * * @package WordPress * @subpackage Twenty_Ten * @since Twenty Ten 1.0 */ get_header(); ?> <div id="container"> <div id="content" role="main"> <?php /* Queue the first post, that way we know * what date we're dealing with (if that is the case). * * We reset this later so we can run the loop * properly with a call to rewind_posts(). */ if ( have_posts() ) the_post(); ?> <h1 class="page-title"> <?php if ( is_day() ) : ?> <?php printf( __( 'Daily Archives: <span>%s</span>', 'twentyten' ), get_the_date() ); ?> <?php elseif ( is_month() ) : ?> <?php printf( __( 'Monthly Archives: <span>%s</span>', 'twentyten' ), get_the_date('F Y') ); ?> <?php elseif ( is_year() ) : ?> <?php printf( __( 'Yearly Archives: <span>%s</span>', 'twentyten' ), get_the_date('Y') ); ?> <?php else : ?> <?php _e( 'Blog Archives', 'twentyten' ); ?> <?php endif; ?> </h1> <?php /* Since we called the_post() above, we need to * rewind the loop back to the beginning that way * we can run the loop properly, in full. */ rewind_posts(); /* Run the loop for the archives page to output the posts. * If you want to overload this in a child theme then include a file * called loop-archives.php and that will be used instead. */ get_template_part( 'loop', 'archive' ); ?> </div><!-- #content --> </div><!-- #container --> <?php get_sidebar(); ?> <?php get_footer(); ?> PHP: The category.php is: <?php /** * The template for displaying Category Archive pages. * * @package WordPress * @subpackage Twenty_Ten * @since Twenty Ten 1.0 */ get_header(); ?> <div id="container"> <div id="content" role="main"> <h1 class="page-title"><?php printf( __( 'Category Archives: %s', 'twentyten' ), '<span>' . single_cat_title( '', false ) . '</span>' ); ?></h1> <?php $category_description = category_description(); if ( ! empty( $category_description ) ) echo '<div class="archive-meta">' . $category_description . '</div>'; /* Run the loop for the category page to output the posts. * If you want to overload this in a child theme then include a file * called loop-category.php and that will be used instead. */ get_template_part( 'loop', 'category' ); ?> </div><!-- #content --> </div><!-- #container --> <?php get_sidebar(); ?> <?php get_footer(); ?> PHP: And the loop.php where both of those are getting their info from (from what I can tell) is: <?php /** * The loop that displays posts. * * The loop displays the posts and the post content. See * http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop to understand it and * http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags to understand * the tags used in it. * * This can be overridden in child themes with loop.php or * loop-template.php, where 'template' is the loop context * requested by a template. For example, loop-index.php would * be used if it exists and we ask for the loop with: * <code>get_template_part( 'loop', 'index' );</code> * * @package WordPress * @subpackage Twenty_Ten * @since Twenty Ten 1.0 */ ?> <?php /* Display navigation to next/previous pages when applicable */ ?> <?php if ( $wp_query->max_num_pages > 1 ) : ?> <div id="nav-above" class="navigation"> <div class="nav-previous"><?php next_posts_link( __( '<span class="meta-nav">←</span> Older posts', 'twentyten' ) ); ?></div> <div class="nav-next"><?php previous_posts_link( __( 'Newer posts <span class="meta-nav">→</span>', 'twentyten' ) ); ?></div> </div><!-- #nav-above --> <?php endif; ?> <?php /* If there are no posts to display, such as an empty archive page */ ?> <?php if ( ! have_posts() ) : ?> <div id="post-0" class="post error404 not-found"> <h1 class="entry-title"><?php _e( 'Not Found', 'twentyten' ); ?></h1> <div class="entry-content"> <p><?php _e( 'Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive.
