Hi there, I've just joined the Affiliate Future website and I'm not %100 sure about setting up my affiliate links...I've got the code to use but it says to add a URL for a deep link and add a tracking code, I'm not sure what to enter for either and am worried it won't track if I mess around with the code. Then it says on the website: Why would I need to add a URL? And can I leave it blank? And what would I put in the ref= field? Thanks for any help, as you can see I'm not too knowledgeable on this subject . Reps for any help offered! Matt
AffiliateFuture. Don't you just love this network. I would think that with the url= parameter you will find the page of the site that you want to deep link to and then put it there. So say you wanted you link to land on this url: http://domainname.com/products/purplewidget/productdetails/132.html you will then add it like this: url=http://domainname.com/products/purplewidget/productdetails/132.html If you don't give a url to tell it where to redirect to once your affiliate future referral link is clicked then it will not know where to go as there is nothing in the referral url currently as it is to tell it what page of the external site to land on so that's why you have to give it in the url= parameter. tracking= can be left blank I believe and it shouldn't be an issue. I think it is only used if you had affiliates working for you and you wanted to put their track each affiliates sales through using their id in that tracking= parameter of you will use it if you want to track sales from certain links that you use. I'm not quite sure what you mean by ref= as I don't see that in the referral url. affiliateID= is you affiliate ID and merchantID is the id of the merchant you are promoting, I have never known about ProductID though, I just think I put anything there, but it's best if you get some advice on that part. Hope this helps and I look forward to the rep. lol. Good luck with this.
Thanks for this john269, rep has been given. Ignore what I said about ref=, as I meant tracking= but thats sorted now. On one of the programs it recommends my landing page, but I'm not sure if its correct...this is what the landing page should be according to them: Would I leave the affiliate=affiliatefuture text in the link? Thanks for any more help. Matt
Are them X's suppose to be there or did you just put them there. I'm not 100% sure, but if that url is going to a product page with info on then it doesn't look right as it has not got any id or url so that it tells that particular page from another product page on their site. It just looks like that goes straight to a registration page on the site where that site would then probably use affiliate future so they know that the conversion came from affiliate future maybe. Mind, I'm not 100% sure of all this as I used affiliate future for deep linking in my product price comparison just over 1 year ago and I have done a lot of other things since then, so I could be slightly wrong, but I can't see why it wouldn't be right. The best thing for you to do is that when you have sorted one url out is for you to test it once to see if it redirects to the landing page you have chosen and also produces 1 click in your affiliate networks statistics for that url. That should hopefully give you a better idea if it's working or not.
