Your domain its not the only thing relevant when doing SEO. You must to check your title, description and keywords for example...link building and more will also help.
Build backlinks, This is the most important thing you can do for SEO. Other than that have your site analyzed with a meta and title checker to make sure your keywords are good and not stuffing. There are a lot of different places where you can find these tools on the internet. You just have to look for them.
Keywords and their density are very important. Also relevant backlinks and some tags here and there on images
there are many SEO factors to decide the SERPs. most important thing is backlinks, you domain name got more advantage so if you got the same no./quality links definitely you will get a higher position. but also dont forget about on-page SEO as well.
If it's a new domain and the keyword is not that competitive then you are ok, just give it more time and keep on building links as well as optimizing your website content and you will be fine, good luck.
just continue what your doing, create a progress report every week for the progress, i think one of the most important in SEO is patience. 3rd page isn't bad for a new site i guess. Link Build some more..
There are lots of factors that may be contributing to this. How long have you had this site? Is your site content rich with your keyword used in the title and description tags? Having your keyword in the domain name does help, but if the content on the page does not match the domain name, then your site might be ranked lower than other sites that have a keyword-rich copy. And like everyone else here has been telling you, build links from content-specific, relevant sites with proper anchor text and you're site is sure to go up in the SERPS. Good luck!
