Help Selling Links

    Hi everyone.
    To say that I am new to running a site (or blog in my case) would be a mass understatement. A few months ago I started a blog dedicated to my 'soccer' team - just for a bit of fun. Since then it has grown and grown and on good days, it reaches over 5,000 page-views (and over 6,000 unique visitors one crazy day!)

    I figured that I'd be able to make a LITTLE money from it just to cover hosting etc. To do it I did a bit of research. I added bits and pieces to the blog selling this and that and setting up affiliate links. None of it has REALLY worked. I don't really understand what to do. I only found out about Google Pageranks a few days ago.

    Apparently my PR is 5 and I've been told that that's quite good - especially if I did it by accident ;-) So what I want to know is now, how do I go about selling text links and making a bit of money? I've noticed lots of links being sold here for decent money. I've tried selling links via Ad-brite (not really successful) LinkAdage (completely not successful) and Text Link Ads (again, not successful).

    What I'd really appreciate and need is someone to point out how to go about maximizing my chances of making money by using what I've got located at my blog. I've read about keywords and backlinks and this and that and it's all foreign to me.

    Any help greatly appreciated in trying to make a bit of cash via text links.

    Firstly let me disclaim what I'm about to say with the warning "I don't have much experience in this field".

    Why don't you put some google adsense on your pages? With 6000 uniques on ONE DAY(!) surely you would get something decent even if you had a low cpm...?

    I've had some wine with my tea, so if that makes no sense, that's the reason.

    I have some Google Ads on the page. I've made a bit of money but not enough to have them send me anything out yet although I'm getting closer with each day and the CTR's seem to have gotten a lot better over the past few days for some reason.

    I'm thinking that it may be down to a key-word plug-in that I added.
