[Help] Re-creating a Website that is ranking well.

I have one website that ranks #5 for some competitive terms.
The website itself has very little content, so I want to remove the old html site and replace it with an OPTIMIZED wordpress installation so I can add loads of content and take the site to the next level...

will the change in the website cause me to rank well or will it be a bad idea given that i'm already ranking #5?
has anyone recreated an old site only to find it has lost its rankings?

 

it is really good idea. do it ASAP. remember one thing, don't do duplicate contents.

If you replace the content quickly, you should notice no changes whatsoever. As long as you keep good keyword density, and quality content, you should do fine.
