Pay per lead affiliate programs are where the merchant pays a pre-specified flat fee for generating a 'lead'. This is different from a sale as making a purchase is not required. These type of programs are usually common in case of free trials, big ticket purchases, financial products such as auto loans, insurance etc. The leads are generally 'qualified'. For instance a merchant may want leads only from the continental US or may further limit it to people of a certain age group and/or gender.

I have a question but don't know where to put it... So, joining Amazon, for example, for affiliate, I need a web site...
And that is before choosing a product to advertise... How comes?
I though it's like, you register, choose product and then make site to sell that specific product...

Basically, you get paid when a prospect/visitor goes to the merchant's site and fills out some information. This could be an e-mail or a zip submit form, or it could be several pages of questions and identifiable information. Make sure you check what page the pixel 'fires' on, because that's the page the visitor needs to get to for you to get paid.
