Help please - 2 Versions of my Blog after getting the theme changed

    Hi there,

Wondered if I could get some help, think its quite a serious problem.

I had someone install a new theme onto my blog (http://www.footyblog.net) and it seems to be working fine. However I've just noticed that if you search in Google "Footy Blog", the site in the results is the previous design - http://footyblog.net and so obviously something is wrong.

Could the new design have been installed in a different location, and the old version still remains? I don't want to upset the search engines, or to lose any SERPS, so would want the new design to over-write the previous one.

    Thanks for any help!

Do you have the previous theme installed or did you remove it? Do you use any cache plugins?

Think the last theme was removed. Yeah there are some cache plugins installed, could they be causing the problem? I didn't think they would be as the sites appearing on 2 different locations I thought - http://footyblog.net and http://www.footyblog.net

    Thanks for the help

Well try to remove all cached data, If that won't help I would just redirect non-www version to www.footyblog.net.

You should do that anyway because Google treats these two subdomains as two separate sites.

Thanks Devtard, I've fixed it now, I was looking through my dashboard settings and for some reason the domain name had been set to www.footyblog.net instead of http://footyblog.net as it was before.

What I'm wondering now is, and as you've mentioned, should I have the www.footyblog.net redirecting in my .htaccess? At the moment if I try typing www.footyblog.net it now automatically takes me to http://footyblog.net... but I'm wondering if Google would still see it as a seperate site?

Well if it is already being redirected I think that there is no need to put another redirection rule in .htaccess.

There are browser extensions that are able display HTTP headers so if you just want to make sure that there is a 301 redirection, install one and find out.
