I'm new to the whole marketing game, and I have two businesses I'm trying to get off the ground, except I don't know if I'm marketing them correctly and efficiently on the web. Can anyone offer suggestions or help me formulate a game plan to market my businesses effectively? Thanks.

I have started a writing and editing service which I would like to get in front of everyone. I also am an independent consultant for a fitness company, promoting fitness products and inspiring health and fitness. Right now, I have just been promoting in classifieds, social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and posting to threads, but I'm wondering if there is more that I can do. I do have websites for both and I try to get the site in front of people either through signatures or business cards. Is there anything else I can do to get more traffic to my sites, to get leads, etc? I have posted both sites to search engines, and whatever directories I can find. Perhaps my problem is my promotional writing and not where I'm posting. I don't know. Any ideas? Did I answer everything?

    Thanks

For fitness stuff, offline marketing usually works best. Try Direct Mail or post cards and target neighborhoods with an average annual income over $65k. Yes you'll spend money but the response rates and motivation of your clients will be higher than online lookers. You could also outsource your marketing to fitness professionals and give them a percentage of the sale.

Create subscriptions on a website for your other services and put em on an affiliate program.

As for your writing services, you can advertise in the services section of DP. Same goes with other internet marketing forums, promote your services in there. Create a good copy, provide samples, feedback from previous clients, etc.

I'm not sure if freelancing sites appeal to you. But you can also give it a try.
