Help on starting a new directory

Okay, i have finally decided to start a new directory.. a plain link directory.

But i have a few questions lingering in my head, that im really confused about.

    * In DP Directory solicitations forum, i see alot of people offering links for free. How does that help ? How would me linking to people and people NOT linking to me (reciprocals) would help in SERPS ?

    * At first, why would people submit to my directory if i have no PR ?

    * Which domain should i choose for my directory ? I have a few options (domains which i own)

    1) you get traffic and content for your directory
    2) because it's free
    3) Web-Directory.ws looks good

    1) Always a good idea to start a new directory for free to fill in the empty categories with content.
    2) Traffic.
    3) I like Link-Directory.ws although Web-Directory.ws sounds good.

    1) There are lots of web directories not worth submitting to, however with some time and hard work you can achive quite much with your web directory; just have some faith. Fill in the categories with good resources and that should definitely do the trick!

    2) Traffic; a submitter doesn't look at PR as the main factor, there's much more for example, a web directory tends to help you on SERPs and not to mention it may drive, targeted traffic to your web site! PR is nothing compared to traffic.

    3) Web-Directory.ws -- should also help you rank very well on the keyword "Web Directory" with some basic SEO.

    1. Because they want traffic and also that is a good way of filling up categories.
    2. Getting a free backlink is always good and just takes a few secs.
    3. This is a good one : Link-Directory.ws

A new directory offers free links to fill categories and get the pages indexed with search engines. When your site grows and PR increases you then can charge and/or demand a reciprocals.

Likewise, over time other directories will start charging for submissions as they grow. Submitting to these directories while they're free mean securing the opportunity of getting a free link in what could be a higher PR paid directory later.
In short - submitting to PR0 directories could be viewed as a investment.
