I have some links pointing to a page within my site. I want to rank for a keyword and some keyphrases. The keyword is most important to me. I don't want to be too specific so I will just use, "modeling" for my example. Lets say the most important thing to be was ranking well in Google with the keyword, "modeling". But I also want to rank good in the keyphrase, "usa modeling" and "sexy usa modeling". If I had a few links on high PR sites with the text, "Sexy USA Modeling" would the keyword, "Modeling" rank as well compared to if I just had the text read, "Modeling" by itself?
Yea your apprehension is right. Use "Modeling" in anchor text to get high ranking for word "Modeling". (Source : experimented)
Anchor text is the text that appears after the url portion of the hyperlink, but before the closit "a" tag right? Just how crucial is this anchor text? I have been submitting links and writing articles using the name of my site in the anchor text spot, is this a poor practice? Should I be using keywords there instead of the name of my site?
Using ur website name www.website.con in the anchor text is a bad practice. I believe ur website is already ranked first for its name. Use a keyword instead of the website name.
those keywords are very competitive. Anyway, focusing on a 3 words keyword is good practice. You will get traffic from another keywords variations, such as USA cheap sexy modeling online Good luck
I don't really agree. In fact, I think that you SHOULD use your site's domain name as your anchor text ever now and then. Plus, you should also use deep linking link www.websitename.com/pagename.htm Many people link to your site not using the anchor text found in your title but by using your site's URL. This makes your site's inbound links a lot natural and Google loves that. Variation is the key. If you keep using you primary keyword as anchor text all the time, this can ring a few bells and Google might not look that
Dont you agree? and how you gonna target a keyword for higher ranking, using the website name? If someone links to ur website using the website name, that wont hurt you. But imagine ur spending 6 months looking for links and asking to put ur website name as anchor
No no no, that's not what I am saying. All I am saying is that using your site's name is a good practice. If you keep using particular anchor texts only, this can earn you red points. By using URL and Site Name as anchor text ever now and then, your in bound linking strategy looks pretty natural and your gains more trust with Google and that gives you a major boost in MANY ways I hope I cleared out any confusion
