    Hi friends,
I would like to ask how I can backup my Wordpress blog (contents, templates and everything..) so that i could import it fully to another hosting if there is a need.
Coz i have a Wordpress blog on one hosting that is rather unstable & I'm afraid it may die one day...

Would appreciate some steps given as I'm need to Wordpress (only know how to install via Fantasio and add content).

    Thanks
    chris

First you have to back up the database. For the follow the following steps.
    1. Log into your cpanel and find "phpmyadmin".
    2. enter "phpmyadmin" and then choose the name of your database.
    3. Click on "Export" button. Then u will be redirected to a page where you select your database tables and start downloading the database files. Then u are finished with backup and you need to backup your wordpress files and themes now.

You can backup your wordpress files and themes by downloading them through an FTP Client like SmartFTP or CuteFTP. Or you may log into your cpanel and enter file manager to download the same files. By Downloading these files, your backup process is finished. Then u can start transferring to ur new Hosting accnt.

First u have to upload all the files downloaded through FTP into ur new host by using FTP or cpanel's file manager.
Then go to cpanel's "phpmyadmin" and click "import". Then browse ur computer and choose the database file u downloaded before. Then your transfer is almost complete.

One last thing is that you need to change the wordpress file "wp-config.php" with new database name and passwords etc. Then u r done transferring ur blog to ur new host.

I would like to have one more question, is that, besides backing up the database, what are the essential files to backup ? do I backup everything that is in the Public_html / www folder under cpanel filemanager ? how about others that are not in the public_html folder ?

    Thanks

You need to download only the files that are inside the root folder of your domain. You don't need to back up the files other than those inside the public.html / www folder..Cheers:)
