I'm going to put up a blog-style website to supplement a website that I'm working on right now, it's purely experimental but I'd eventually like to incorporate Adsense into it. I'm planning on setting up Wordpress and using that as a CMS. But for right now I've just got some hosting that I've been using for webspace. I won't have the money to get a separate plan for this new site until next week. My question is, do I go ahead and get the site up and going (the idea is to update it daily and its going to have about 40-50 content pages already up initially) with a folder (and Mysql database setup for wordpress) on my current hosting plan, start submitting it to engines and whatnot now? Or is it not worth the effort to get going since I don't have the domain yet. I could sacrifice some time to get traffic going or I could get going now and possibly face some transitional consequences later. Any opinions on which route to take? Thanks edit: Matter of clarification, I posted this in the adsense forum because it's the advertising medium I plan to use and I'm wondering if theres any transitional consequences with Adsense when switching from a folder on one domain to a totally new domain. If it is in the wrong forum though, sorry
For some insight, see my blog post Blogger isn't free: The cost of not using your own domain which talks about a similar issue. Better to wait until you have your blog setup on the right domain so you can start building the traffic to it at the right spot.
