    From Official Google Webmaster Blog

" our algorithms won't view the same article written in English and Spanish as duplicate content. "

You can read more here about the official statement of google on duplicate content issue: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/12/deftly-dealing-with-duplicate-content.html

I think your right. There is no way they could catch that. Translation from one language to another isn't simple and there isn't a quick way for the spider to quickly compare items in different languages.

there is no way they would recognize that. I mean Googles translation would have to be identicle to the translation that you have I would think.

Don't think so, as there are many ways to translate one sentence into another language.

It's hard for google to detect the duplicate posts in different language. But if there is someone that will report it to google, Google will take action about it immediately.

Duplicate content never works and helps and a fresh content, or better rewritten content.
