Help on deciding the color theme for an oil company

I am working on creating a web design for an oil company. But I am struck on deciding which colors will be suitable for such types of company. Please help me out

What colors does the company have in its logo and promotional material. You don't want to go off into never never land designing a piece of art. The oil company is a business, and has animage that it has built over time. You extend and promote the image or you will end up getting a kick in the a$$ from the managers of the company responsible for continuity.

I recon clear colors with some green will avoid the "pollution" thingy and as said above try to work out colors in company logo, that might help

 

consider yellow as shell does because its visible from far as well as its clear and to the point

 

That said, it might not be the best idea to use the same color as a competitor. Green seems to be the new yellow. BP uses it, but it can be used pretty commonly among these types of companies.
