Many moons ago, I read about TerraPass in Wired magazine. I promptly forgot about it. Okay, I didn't really forget, but just filed it somewhere in my brain. Recently "climate change" has been getting a lot of press, so I did some research. TerraPass is pretty interesting - you purchase "carbon offsets" to neutralize the emissions from your car. They give you a little sticker saying that you are "carbon neutral" or whatever. They are a for-profit company - which I love - good for them. But, I looked around some and found a great organization that does the same thing, but will do more for the same amount of money. Basically, for $5.50 a ton - the CarbonFund will offset that ton of carbon that you put into the atmosphere. Good deal - warm and fuzzy. After reading about them and looking at the potential benefits (mostly their investments in alternative energy - like wind power), I decided to make some contributions. Here is the catch (there is always a catch!): I will contribute enough to offset one ton of carbon for every link (one link, one domain) pointing to DeepMarket - my stock market blog. I will track the links at Technorati - so be sure to ping Technorati if you post a link in your blog.
