I have a couple of questions about using the Yoast SEO Plugin. In the 'Focus Keyword' field how many keywords can I add? Should I be using the 'Meta keywords' field too? Thank you.
I wouldn't bother using "Meta Keywords" as Google officially announced in 2009 that meta keywords were not included in ranking factors. As for the focus keyword you can add only one focus keyword and the plugin will show you whether the content you're about to publish fulfills all the necessary on-page SEO criteria.
Mate, dont waste your time with Yoast. The plugin causes more problems than it solves. In my spare time I used to coach some guys and their on page problems were ALWAYS Yoast related.
Agreed that Yoast isn't the best...but either way I would stick to one KW per page as your 'focus' KW.
As much as possible, fill in the necessary requirements for the plugin for you to maximize it's SEO benefits.
Well basically, you can always use your keywords on your title and description, you just have to make sure to avoid keyword stuffing. Hope that helps!
Are you asking if you should focus on one keyword or can it be a keyphrase. For instance: - Design - London Design Agency The difference is huge. You will have way more competition on specific keyword (Design) than if you use a long tail keyword (London Design Agency). Also, are you asking if you can target more than one keyword/keyphrase? For instance: - London Design Agency - London Design Company If that's the case, you will need Yoast Premium. Free version only allow to optimize for one keyword/keyphrase. I completely disagree on the negative feedback for SEO. Is by far the best SEO plugin. We use it on our Agency. But you can always use an external tool, and this one is our favourite: https://en.onpage.org/
