    Hi,

I bought a windows vps and use it to upload files using ftp. To connect to my vps I'm using remote desktop connection.

Now I want to move to another provider but I have some unanswered questions left:

    - Does remote desktop connection work on all windows vps or is it a special feature of my provider
    - Linux vps is much cheaper. But how can I connect to it? Does remote desktop connection work here too?
    - Is there a virtual desktop at linux vps?

If someone knows a good tutorial about linux vps please tell me!

You will not be using Remote desktop for a Linux VPS, you will be using command line over SSH. For this, you will need a tool such a PuTTY: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

There is no quick tutorial, it takes time to learn how to manage your server daemons, navigate through the OS, and keep it in good running order.

hey, yes windows vps has the remote desktop feature by default, no special feature offered by your provider, but linux servers come ony with shell, and you will need to install gnome or kde, then install VNC to access the remote desktop of the linux vps with a vnc client. quite easy to setup yourself, but if you don't know much about linux, i can do it for you

Some providers offer remote linux desktop access by default. Google up.
