Need some guidance redirecting my melbourne IT domain, to a website I have just constructed using weebly website builder. Im not at all familiar with using DNS,and the instructions on the weebly and melbourne IT are clear as mud. Can anyone offer any help to a novice cheers Ian
Hi Ian, I too am in the middle of this process, as I'm sure a lot of people will be as Microsoft are closing their free website service. How far have you got? I have activated my DNS and redelegated the name servers, and I have put the weebly I.P address into the A records, but I dont know what Im supposed to put in the "hostname" bit, and as you say all relevant instructions are clear as mud! The Melbourne IT bit looks nothing like the examples given for godaddy or yahoo on the weebly site. My website comes up in a google search fine, so its working at least! But I have 3 more websites to move for friends so I want to be sure Im doing it properly. Would be great to hear from you!Kirsty
Hi Kristy, Did you ever find out on how to get melbourne IT domain name to work with weebly. I know i did what they told me to do like you mention below. Did it work for you or what did you do differently. Thanks T
Hello! I did, I couldn't remember how! So I've just gone and looked up my records and this is what is now showing under the DNS records: HOSTNAME POINTS TO TTL (SEC) TYPE STATUS mywebsitename.co.uk. 199.34.228.100 86400 A Published Edit | Delete www 199.34.228.100 86400 A Published Edit | Delete So all I did was type in those two 'A' name records, putting mywebsitename.co.uk as one hostname and www as the other and of course the weebly code 199.24.228.100 in under "points to" and it worked, I didn't fill in anything else. Hope that helps! I had to redirect 3 websites and they are all working fine! It seemed to take me days to figure it all out though!
Thanks for the info. I just put it in and I guess I have to wait.for it to go through. Do you know how long it takes to work? I have to get another domain too so i'm assuming I have to go on the melbourneit.com.au to do that. I guess I about to find out in minute on how to do that.
