Ok guys 'n gals I have less than 24hours to transfer my site www.booze-up.com from my old hosting with Jumpline to my new hosting and to be honest I have no idea!! What files do I need to copy over....are they all the files in the www directory or do I need other files I know how to use FTP justhave not ideas on what files to take from my current hosting! If someone would be prepared to give me an idiots guide, I would be most grateful!! Thanks!
If you are using cPanel, then start a full backup from the backup link in cpanel. download this to your computer and then upload this to public_html folder of your hosting. Request your new host to restore this by submitting a ticket. He will do this free of cost. This will contain all your setting s and passwords as well. Good luck
Thanks for your speedy reply!! I have a VDS manager with a file manager, cant seemto find any cpanel Does this make any sense to you!?
Thanks but I cant get hold of my new host at the mo - privately done through someone and as its a Sunday here getting they are out enjoying the weekend!! What I really need to know is what files I need to download - at the moment I have use FileZilla and logged into my a/c via FTP and am downloading the entire contents as I have no idea what files to download - logic tells me the www folder but I dunno!! Help - its downloading LOADS of files!!! Thanks for everyones help tho, really appreciate this!!
It seems that you website is powered by some CMS written in PHP and probably stores the data in mysql database. So you should download the directory where the files like index.php, showcategory.php, alcohol-delivery.html and other are stores (and all subfolders). These files upload to your new server (however, I would download all files from your previous host for sure). Then use phpmyadmin (it should be possible to find it in the control panel) to download the mysql database and upload it to your new host. Note, that it may be necessary to change some settings in your configuration file with your mysql database password.
Download The corresponding Database, Download The FTP Files.. And Transfer it to the new host, Import the database.. And its all set.. OR Do a Cpanel to Cpanel Backup transfer. Thanks.
Looking at your provider, it seems like they areusing cPanel. Download your full site backup using cPanel. (Login to your cPanel and you will see the option) The advantage of using cPanel backup is that, if your new provider is also using cPanel, they can restore your account as it is without any issue. And you wouldn't have to do anything other than pointing your domain to new NS. Also, to be on safe side, download all files under your public-html folder and your Databases (using phpmyadmin)
Just FTP into your account and downloaded all the file and if your running a mysql database dump that as well.
I think that would be better to ask (pay) yopur new web hostoing company and let them take care of transfer.
