I have been with solid internet hosting, formerly myacen, for 6 years. The problems with them have been mounting far more solidly than their service, over the last 12 months. After much whining, they moved me over to a clustered network of servers, and the problems have continued to emerge, fast and furious... FTP access is lost presently. The Mail server has been working only sporadically over the last few months, which doesn't help with new registrations for my forums or my monthly newsletters. The stats function and control panel ftp routine, dont work properly... I have been paying...$169AU per year. The stats of my site are approximately: 15-25000 unique users. 750000-1.5 million hits 2-350000 Pages Bandwidth 3.6-5gb (per month) 187 posts per day 10.6 topics per day Database Size- 244.8MB Database Server- MySQL(i) 5.0.67-log there is also a front end to the site at www.weedguru.com, written in html, which I dont think is very big. Can anyone suggest a decent, reliable host for cheaper or a similar price to what I have been paying? which will easily satisfy the present demand for service on my site?please!
I'm confused... are these numbers based on a monthly average or what? 5GB bandwidth per month... are you sure? Can we have a live chat on cheapffmpeg.com ? I'd like to know more about it... Thanks, Alberto
yes all the stats above the (per month) were average ranges taken from the last few months. But after looking at a different stats engine from my hsphere control panel which underpins the site presently...I have these stats:> Month Hits Files Pages Visits Traffic March 1557384 1121764 362839 37026 7.05 Gb April 1738362 1295316 597273 45764 7.91 Gb May 1439211 989065 489921 36058 6.20 Gb May was reduced because the site kept going offline. I have two mysql databases...I assume one is the phpbb forum and the other is the phplist mailing program. The front end is found at www.weedguru.com and I have no idea of finding out how large that section is, but as its html, i assume it cannot be massive.
A VPS is indeed recomended, due to the pontetional increase of visitors along with a big database and alot of visitors. Not to mention all the freedom it gives you and your website(s)
Yep. VPS are cheap now-a-days. Get yourself an umanaged one from a provider and it should be quite simple to setup with the help of Google I am currently with FSCKVPS
Hey, A VPS is like a Dedicated Server, you have your very own Dedicated Ram, Bandwidth, Dedicated IP Address and Hard Drive... The main difference from a VPS and a Dedicated Server is that you share the entire server with different people. Where again, each individual person has their own "guaranteed" resources. In theory you might say that the only thing you and all the other clients share is the CPU, unless the hosting company split this up and give guaranteed CPU to each individual client.. (Not recomended) Besides that, then you have the price difference! A VPS is way cheaper then a dedicated server, but at the same time it does exactly the same thing as a Dedicated with a few more improved features for a newbie.. (My opinion at least) Some featuers includes Reboot / Start / Stop whenver you want to, yourself Re-Install the operating system unlimited times, whenever you want yourself Easily change hostname and resolves without technical knowledge Easily access file manager for all root files Secure SSH Connection directly from you browser The list above is just a very short list out of all the possibilities you have, it is also assumes that you have the HyperVM controlpanel. It is also very easy for you as a client, to upgrade to a bigger package if you need it in the feature, or upgrade one spesific item.. (HDD, Bandwidth, RAM etc) If you don't have alot of knowledge around VPS Hosting, then i would recomendend a Managed Solution where the webhost may assist you if any issues occure. You may take a look at http://vixile.com/en/vps which offer what your looking for at an extremly affordable price. I hope this explained a bit for you
If you do not know how to setup a VPS, I would suggest you get a "Managed" VPS.. But it's not hard to setup, Google helps a lot!
do you have many sites? Or just one site? Personally, if you have the budget, I suggest you to go with dedicated server. The reason is that you can use the server as if it was your own. You can install anything you want. so far, I like SoftLayer. They provide a very reliable dedicated hosting. Their support is fast and knowledgeable but it cost 3$ per open ticket.
Don't want to pay more and want good and dependable services, I would recommend you that try our Unlimited Hosting Plan, checkout gr8ecom.com for more details.
Stay away from hosts that are not reputable that say "unlimited" Original Poster - Please send me a PM, I can probably handle your needs.
