First of all you need a domain.
I recommand you to invest $20 for a webspace and a domain. Otherwise go for a free domain.
Then install wordpress, choose a free template and start blogging.

    It's not that difficult.

But if you only want to blog about you and your life dont expect many visitors.
For me i never read this kind of blogs but some people might like it...

    Anyway, good luck!

    Are you using cPanel?

If so go to the script installer, look for wordpress. Install , go to wordpress.org and look for themes, mods etc. My blog http://stunes.sir-torrent.co.cc

It has iPhone theme which makes it mobile. I have many mods on there which are 100% free. Just look around :)

If u have cPanel in hosting account, u can install wordpress automatically via few clicks only.

Otherwise, if your hosting do not provide cPanel (very rare), u can download wordpress from wordpress.org and install it via FTP.

All required info available at wordpress.org

    Cheers..

    Hi,
I would advise you to go for a free domain and hosting (like blogger etc) because then you don't need to worry about the installations all others stuff. You just need to login and start writing.
Once you feel comfortable with it and get familiar to various other features you can switch to a paid and much more advanced domain.

    Regards,
    Rochak

will be hard to be succesfull if you are only blogging about random stuff in your live because you are not famous so people are not interested in you that much.

Great plan, you just want a blog to have a voice. I respect that a lot. So heres a step by step guide.

First buy domain and hosting. I recommend namecheap for domain and hostgator for hosting.

Log into your cpanel (your control panel) you get to it at yourdomain.com/cpanel

scroll down and click on Fantastico and scroll down slow and click wordpress. From there its a one two three and you done type of thing.

Now that your wordpress is installed. You can go to wordpress.org for a free theme or google "free wordpress 2.8.1 themes" Now if you want to buy a premium them I recommend thesis. To install your theme its very easy with the latest wordpress. Just click on appearance and add new themes. Upload your theme.

For plugins, click on plugins and then add new. You can search for any plugins you want and install them with a few clicks.

To start blogging just click on new post each time you want to write something.

I hope this helped you. If you want to learn everything I know grab my ebook and you get free updates anytime I update it. The ebook is called "How To Make A Blog Ready For Success" I recommend you grab the ebook before you start.

You might also want to use a desktop blog editor like Live Writer so you don't have to use the wordpress web interface for post/draft management.

I think you are not ready to have your own blog on your own server, but I suggest signing up for a blogger account at blogspot.com, or wordpress. They allow you to blog for free, so you can miss out on paying yearly for a domain, and monthly for hosting.

and if he goes with blogger.com and wordpress.com he do NOT own that blog nor have complete control to do whatever he wants with it. Which most beginners make the mistake of doing and have to buy domain and hosting later and lose all the backlinks they built.

I would suggest the $0 investment method... which starts with creating a Google account and going to blogger.com, where you can pick and choose a subdomain of blogspot.com and get it all for free. No need to pay for hosting and domain names. Try it out first. See if you like it. If you want to do it with a domain and wordpress, please give me a PM and I will provide you with more detailed instructions. Good luck!
