Help my mailing list is becoming a monster.

I have been collecting email addresses and other information from my visitors. I already have nearly 600 members and have only been collecting for 4 days.

I have been asking people to fill out my form which saves their data in an excel file in my private folder.

Will I be able to use this information or will I end up having to hand type it into another form later?

I was playing with Mail Them Pro but still don't have it all figured out. Does anybody have some good suggestions for a mailing list rookie.

I need to get a grip on this mess before I have a serious load of work on my hands.

My C-panel has mailing list software but it looks real lame?

I'm going crazy and pressure like this makes me a little scatter brained lol.

I'm looking for mailing list information from the ground up. Either I'm no good at using the DP search tool or there isn't much info which I really find hard to believe.

    Thanks in advance,

    Herman

    Hi,

You could use this PHP script, http://www.notonebit.com/projects/mailinglist/

Its really easy to use and it allows you to import email address' from a CSV file. So if you have your list in excel already then you just need to save it to the .csv format and then you are ready.

Ok does that software allow me to personalize my messages by using names etc?

I have been collecting name, email address, city, state, country & zip code.

Right now everything is quoted and separated with a comma. Is this going to be a good way of saving the info or is it going to be a major pain? This is the part I'm worried about because I really want to use this information to send people who live in certain cities special information sometimes.

I know I'm freaking out a little but I do need to hammer this thing out. I could have been collecting mega email addresses for months now lol. How stupid of me but this is exactly why I didn't start collecting because I knew I would have to learn something again haha.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

    Peace,

    Herman

    you use excel files....

Why don't you use a database like Postgres or MySql? You can have millions of e-mails before you have problems.

I recommend the TrafficWave.net AutoResponder system:

    1) Manage unlimited lists.
    2) Personalize messages with name, address, email, city, state, zip, phone, and more.
    3) Unlimited list size.
    4) Supporting tools.
    5) Track click-through rates.
    6) Track Open rates (coming soon)

Trafficwave, you WOULD recommend TrafficWave.net ;) Actually I would too! Been a member for years!

I've also used Emailaces or Aweber or something not located on the site that hosts your main site.

Here is the deal...many people don't know this but when you have shared hosting (like with Hostgator in some cases) they actually limit the amount of emails you can send witin and hour time...usually 500-1000.

I manage thousands of leads with my TrafficWave.net AutoResponder system.

Go for Aweber. It's the king of autoresponders and you will certainly need an effective tool if you are getting that amount of sign ups.

If you are going to build a big email list I would recommend going with a good company who has been around for awhile. I would recommend either Aweber, or GetResponse.

They allow you to do everything you said, and offer great customer support. Aweber even has videos showing you how to use everything in their back office.

Any suggestions for a good solution to send out something like a montly newsletter to about 100 people...not an autoresponder. I would like to have something that could help me create something a bit better than a plain text email.
Or should I just use Outlook?
    Opinions appreciated.

TrafficWave.net has been around for over 8 years and allows for all these features and then some. Includes step by step training tutorials and online videos, as well as online support, and member discussion forum.

You say "Not an autoresponder" but an AutoResponder may be exactly what you need.

Many of our clients use their AutoResponder to send out weekly and monthly newsletters.

Beyond just plain text email, you can send full HTML messages.

Many of our clients have formatted their messages to look just like their web site. The WYSIWYG HTML Editor functions in a manner very similar to this particular forum's editor with buttons for formatting text, adding links, images, tables, etc...

I just talked with the internet guru James Jones. He recommended Awebber as have many in this thread. I appreciate all the great responses big time. I'm going to check the software that everybody has recommended here and make my decision.

    Once again thanks big time,

    Herman

I would recommend Aweber joined them the other day and they are great bit slow on updating though.

Ok, I just checked Awebber out. It's a little pricey imo. James told me it was 20 dollars but that's if you have 500 members or less. I have already collected 800 new members in less than 5 days. I'm certainly not complaining about that, I would never imagined I would be getting this many subscribers, or traffic for that matter.

I'm thinking more about using the Mail Them Pro software and just doing it myself but I need to learn how to use .csv files I guess.

I will call the manufacturers of Mail Them and find out more unless I get some good feedback about them. I will also call my mail server and ask if it's ok to send mailing lists and if there are restrictions etc.

Still looking for advice. Maybe I'm just being a tight wad but I will be paying Aweber $49.00 a month by the end of the month. I have another mailing list I've been collecting for some time. I'm sure many will opt out in that one but I have about 2500 email addresses saved up for that list.

I guess I don't have a great deal of confidence in making money with a mailing list. Seems like I will be giving a good chunk of the profit to Aweber if I go that route.

On the other hand I don't feel like doing all that extra work of sifting unsubscribers etc.

What's a guy to do? Still looking for help.

    Peace,

    Herman

Go with Aweber, I have used them for over a year and they're great.

If you're in a good niche, than those 800 signups you have are gold. If you need help with converting those leads into profit, shoot me a pm.

TrafficWave.net is a flat $17.95 per month regardless of the number of subscribers or campaigns you are running.

If you don't want to pay for Aweber then the second i would recommend is Getresponse they are great too. Offer the same sort of services that Aweber do just at one set fee, like Aweber used to.
