I moved a major website on Thurday to a new server IP. On Saturday it was completely gone in rankings. Even searching for the site directly doesn't show until the 70th page where it used to be #1. Today is Wednesday and it is still down 90% from 2000 visitors a day to 400. It is killing our company and will force us to shut down soon. SOme people say it will take 2 weeks, others say you wont lose rankings. To those that say "it wont lose rankings" you are wrong. help. When will it come back? Will it ever come back or should I move it back?
I read the article sanjen posted and no, I wouldn't move it back, that will only prolong the effects. It looks like you're going to have to redo some promotion and possibly buy some ads.
any answers from people that know what they are talking about? Sorry, but this is critical that an answer if found. The link that was given to me is way off topic. We are looking to discuss the moving of an IP. The URL is the same, there are no redirects. It is not moving from country to country. It has many backlinks. Google is evil for effecting someone like this. It can wipe out an entire company, employees and families.
well, it's stupid for a business to rely ONLY on google traffic. Surely you should of branched out more and seen this sort of thing happening? It happens to everyone, a lot of the time.
