    Robots meta tags are only used for exclusion, never inclusion, according to the google webmasters guide.

    And why in the world is there a google no archive tag in there? Was that requested? I'm preplexed why you suggest google not cache the home page?

    Why are you using an off site hosted table background image?

    But it does validate. However, your page renders a different width then the original and my reworked rendition.

    That is very possible. Use a text editor or turn off any automated DW features. I don't use DW so I have no advice except... well, nevermind. :D

    No disrespect meant noppid, but while better, it's still a mess. :eek:
    ie:

    I have to wholly agree with Colleen on this one. If he wants tips, fine, but fixing that, optimising the SEO, getting is accessible... You are talking a few days work to do it right for the two sites.

    ...And that was before he added phpBB to the table. Even I'm shying from the work to make that forum accessible. It's do-able and indeed on my (long) 'to-do' list, but you are talking a good few weeks works to rewrite and test the forum. (And no, not just a new style).

    Let's be serious here. For a web pro to fix a page like that you are talking upwards of $50 page. If we are also talking about optimising for accessibility and SEO, you'd better have a deep pocket, 'cos it's jumps up to $200 a page and rising.

    OK. It appears DW wants to use <script language="JavaScript">

    You need to use <script type="text/javascript">

    If you keep using DW, you will keep breaking this I guess. Use a text editor.

    Good luck.

    That does not qualify as a "mess". Let's use the exact defination of deprecated...

    Deprecated

    A deprecated element or attribute is one that has been outdated.

    Deprecated elements may become obsolete in the future, but browsers should continue to support deprecated elements for backward compatibility.
    Obsolete

    Obsolete elements and attributes have no guarantee of browser-support and they are no longer defined in the W3C specification.

    So they are safe to use. But in the big picture, we're talking about such little work or concern with 4.01 transitional, I'm not gonna worry.

    If we are going to split hairs like this, lets go xhtml strict.

    Anywho, to be up to speed, here's the pages using CSS and Divs instead of center.

    Don't know why your so pissy, I'm just trying to help here... :rolleyes:

    "Google takes a snapshot or caches each page in their index. It is one of the major reason Google provides results so quickly. The downfall is if you have a site or page that changes often, Google will serve up the cached version or outdated versions of your site to surfers.

    To avoid have Google cache your site insert the following tag."

    <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOARCHIVE">
    Have you looked at my code, or just the top?
    He will need to change a few things still! ( I don't know if hed upload my code right away or not... SEE W3C VALIDATION........)
    Can you read my pm's, people can chat through those also correct?

    It was in his original code...
    BTW its in your code also... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v618/derekmalcolm123/logo.gif
    SEE W3C VALIDATION AGAIN... (I'M talking about when he tried to validate the code...)

    I assumed he wanted the site viewable @ 640x480, look at it 800x600...
    My code is still off a few pixels wich can be changed in the <td> style...

    I don't know what the problem is here, I was the first to say I'd help.
    I think your missing something again.
    as for the meta tags I did a quick look, (AS I STATED IM NO PRO.) I found those tags to be fit for the page for the time being...

    What advice? I made a page and said here you are hope it helps... I don't know if you have anger issues or what! This is no longer contributing anything positive to the thread starter. I suggest you stop unless it's something to do with this thread.
    if attacking me makes you feel better email me here.

    It's completely relevent. The guy asked for the page to be W3C. You went and did so called SEO and told him to tell google not to cache his home page. You quoted something to, I suppose, justify the decision and that quote is BAD advice. You didn't even provide a source of this bad advice.

    Back on topic? You took an HTML fix all the way to SEO and to boot gave bad advice.

    Done here? Yes, I agree. Please stop.

    Thanks

    Did we miss something again noppid?
    I thought he wanted valid W3c! you even stated my code was valid...

    http://www.google.com/webmasters/remove.html (Remove cached pages) Do you ever really need a chace of your site? I mean if it's down its down for a reason correct?
    were i got the "QUOTE" http://www.promotionblast.com/search_engine_optimization_resources/google.html
    o0o and this is from your "homepage" source...
    <!-- no cache headers -->
    <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
    <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1" />
    <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache" />
    <!-- end no cache headers -->

    I don't need to say more do I?
